About Missy (On Trial 7/1/15)~ sweet fox terrier
Missy is a sweet and loving fox terrier x. She will be 5 years old in May and is at a fantastic age as she is happy to have a play, but also content to laze around. Missy is still gaining confidence and is quite shy. Despite this, she will NEVER say no to a cuddle and she absolutely loves people of all ages, male and female.
Missy is just so unbelievably easy to have around. The worst she will do is follow you absolutely everywhere and hope for a cuddle. \ She likes to rest her head on you and look up into your eyes! It’s almost like she is saying thank you for saving her from the pound and giving her this new, lovely life.
Missy LOVES people and will adore anyone willing to give her a pat. Missy is excellent with the toddler that she currently lives with. Although, she is still learning her manners and will sometimes encourage the toddler to share food! As with any dog, Missy will require supervision with children.
Missy is a pleasure to walk. She doesn’t pull on the lead and will walk at a leisurely pace. She isn’t a livewire, but she does have her sudden bursts of energy in which she’ll grab a soft toy and shake it or play tug of war with one of the other dogs.
Missy is in foster care with two other fox terriers and has also been with a dachshund. She is wary to begin with and submissive with other dogs. Once she settles in, she initiates play and will be quite affectionate with other dogs. Missy could be an only dog as she is definitely a ‘people dog’. But if she is going to be home alone a lot, another dog is recommended for company.
Missy is fairly good at going to the toilet outside, however, we do sometimes still find surprises inside. We are working on this with excellent results through the use of positive reinforcement training. Missy will require more basic training. As she can be quite timid, she needs someone that will be patient, gentle and kind with her.
Missy would love to go to a home in which someone is home a lot as she really craves human attention. She will also need to be an inside dog as she has to be near her people. Missy really does tick all the boxes and it’s hard not to love her soft, gentle nature.
For more information or to meet Missy, please contact her foster carer Anita on 0400 107 603 or email noitamc@hotmail.com. Missy is in foster care in Medowie, NSW (Port Stephens, 30 mins North of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Missy's adoption fee is only $300 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
