About Rufus
Rufus was released from the Pound just before Christmas and he has shown every day just how grateful he is for the opportunity to have a wonderful new life. Rufus' foster carer thinks that he is one of the most adorable dogs she has ever met. He is gentle and kind to the other dogs he is in care with and really enjoys being with a family who love their dogs. Rufus shows his pleasure by giving non-stop kisses and smiling in true dog fashion. He loves playing with toys (especially balls) but at the moment it is hard for him as he has a very sore leg. Rufus was x-rayed when he came from the Pound as the vet noticed that he was limping badly and was found to have a torn cruciate ligament and a dislocated hip. Major surgery is needed to fix these before he can be rehomed and we would like to have this done as soon as possible to alleviate the pain he is suffering. When Rufus recovers from his surgery he will be looking for a wonderful home and he is such a character and we expect that whoever adopts this gorgeous fluff bucket will love him as much as we do. When Rufus isn't playing he enjoys sitting right next to you and is also good with cats. He has a lovely wiry coat with lots of gorgeous colours mixed through and it is low maintenance so only requires a quick brush and tidy up to keep him looking lovely. Rufus enjoys all types of food and takes his pain medication without any fuss. He is a house dog and must have indoor access via a doggy door or similar.
Medical notes
UPDATE 1 FEBRUARY: Rufus came to us from Campbelltown Pound in late December 2014 and it was noticed on veterinary examination that Rufus was uncomfortable in the hip area. X-rays were done to get a definitive diagnosis and these showed that his femoral head was slipping in and out of his hip joint and that he required surgery as soon as possible to remove it. The vet believes that Rufus had suffered some kind of trauma (possibly a kick) which had damaged the femoral head and as he was in considerable pain and discomfort the surgery was performed as soon as possible. Rufus is currently recovering in foster care and will be available for adoption as soon as he has completely recovered.
