About Baxter (On Trial 10/1/15) ~ Labrador x Staffy
Wanted: Best friend for Baxter. Baxter is a 4 year old Labrador x staffy, beautiful in nature and appearance, with hair so soft. He is between a staffy and Labrador in size and has white hair with brown spots. He would be a great mate to the right person or family. My suspicion is that he would make an excellent wingman – he is handsome and is a real people magnet.
Baxter a loving and great listener, gives excellent advice, fun, trustworthy and he will always be there for you – he is as loyal as they come, and would do anything for a cuddle. He melts your heart!
He gets along well with other dogs and is very gentle with children. He is not however, a big fan of cats. I can’t tell if he wants to eat them or play with them and my cats are not willing to investigate that one. I think this could be overcome with training though. He is fine with being outside the majority of the time or is good inside. Outside he just has a bit of a wander around the yard, a chew on a bone or a snooze but he loves to be inside following you around wherever you go. He silently and calmly follows you around the house and sits at your feet when you settle.
Baxter loves people. He gets very excited when someone arrives home or if someone visits and will have a bit of a frustrated yawny whine until he is greeted. He just wants to get on in and get a cuddle and belly rub hello. When I spend time with him in the yard, he loves to play fetch or tug of war or sit on my lap for a big cuddle and belly scratch and lovingly look into my eyes. He would do this all day if he could.
Baxter sleeps well outside overnight. \ He goes to bed quietly and sleeps until the next morning or sometimes we have him on a bed on the floor of our room and he does the same. He does like to be close by if possible.
We took him to the beach and he was absolutely fascinated by the water. I think it would only be a matter of time before he would be frolicking and swimming with the best of them. He is also good in the car.
Baxter needs a medium sized backyard, a play every day and a walk most days. He is an obedient dog and he “sits” on command most of the time and learnt the “lay down” command in one day. He gets super excited when you bring out the dog harness or lead and loves to get out and about.
He will bark when people turn up at the house but generally he is not a barker. \ Sometimes he gets a bit of a frustrated yawny whine going on when he can see the cats or something exciting through the fence but it doesn’t last long.
Baxter is at his happiest being around people but mostly when you sit with him and he lies on his back between your legs and lovingly looks up at you as you rub his belly. Now that is his scene. This dog is a keeper – big time! He is your new best mate and he is waiting to meet you.
