About Zailey ~ Kelpie (on trial 9/7/15)
Zailey is quite the character. She is a beautiful tan and white kelpie mix, 7 months old. Her shoulders stand about 40cm off the ground, she currently weighs approx. 16 kilos and will fill out a bit more to be a medium sized dog. She often has one ear up and one ear down – the best of both worlds. She’s got such a pretty face – looks like she’s wearing eyeliner!
She is a happy pup that just loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters. Zailey is a bit unsure of humans at first but this can be overcome if you are gentle and offer her a treat. She gets so excited and comes up to you for a second but then runs away as if she really wants a pat but is a little unsure.
Zailey may be afraid of young children so it’s best that she goes to home with older, calm children and people that will be sympathetic to her shyness. Before you know it Zailey will be a happy go lucky, confident dog - she just needs the right home where she can feel safe and secure. Is that with you and your family?
Zailey is a dog’s dog and as such must go to a home where she will be a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th?) doggy. Her confidence rises when she’s with another dog and so does her excitement! She loves to chase and wrestle with her doggy friends. She’s quite happy to be outside as long as she has a canine companion. Her yard must be secure with a nice sheltered warm bed and kennel to snuggle in and lots of shade for those hot days.
Zailey needs a quality, nutritious diet and a daily walk to ensure she remains healthy. Like all dogs, she will require ongoing socialising and training. Her date of birth is 20/5/14.
For more information or to meet Zailey please contact her foster carer Jennifer by email to jensfosters@gmail.com or phone 0427290989.
Zailey is in foster care in Kurri Kurri, NSW (west of Newcastle).
Zailey’s adoption fee is only $400 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Zaily has a mild (grade 2/6) heart murmur that the vet doesn’t expect will affect her quality of life.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
