About Harry (On Trial 3/1/15) ~ 6 month old Staffy
If you’re looking for a loving and loyal mate to be a part of your family, then Harry’s your boy! Harry is a 6 month old Staffordshire bull terrier who has the most gorgeous chocolate coat with just a sprinkling of gold markings.
Harry is currently learning the basic commands of sit, come, down and shake and is a very quick learner. He loves to chase a ball and will return with it. He’s still working on the dropping part though. Harry loves to please, has excellent eye contact and responds well to food rewards, praise and touch. He just loves a belly rub. He is walking well on lead although he can be a little hesitant around new things at first.
Harry was sprung from the pound just in time for Christmas and was very appreciative of a cosy bed and other doggie friends to play with. He gives great thank you kisses and loves a cuddle. Harry gets on well with other dogs including some twice his size. He seems to think it's fun to walk underneath my other foster dog, who is a German shepherd x. Harry has met my cat and displayed little interest in him. He adores his kong toy and has shown no sign of food aggression. Harry loves to play with toys and gets on great with children.
When he first arrived Harry was a little anxious and would cry whenever he couldn’t see me. We have been working on this and he is improving everyday as he gains confidence and realises that he is not being left alone again. Harry is happiest when by your side whether in the garden, garage or lounge room. He will lie quietly at your feet or curl up in your lap for a cuddle. He has been very well behaved indoors and is doing great with toilet training. (NO accidents yet!) He can even use the doggie door.
Harry would be best suited to an active family whether that is a single, couple or family with children, where he would be treated as part of the family and be allowed to spend time indoors. He is currently sleeping indoors. Harry would benefit from having another doggie friend to play with and to teach him dog manners as he is still a puppy. If an only dog, he would need human company throughout the day as puppies tend to get into mischief when left alone all day.
Harry will require ongoing training if he is to be the awesome dog that he has the potential to be.
Are you the right family for Harry? Can you love him the way he’ll love you?

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
