About Lucky (On Trial 24/2/2015)~ Tenterfield Terrier
Introducing sweet Lucky, an 11 year old, male, Tenterfield Terrier. He is a gorgeous older boy who is looking for a lap to sit on and someone to go for a walk with. He is the perfect combination of lap dog and walking buddy. Lucky is a low maintenance, easy care boy with a low shed coat. He is approx. 5kg so is only a small dog. He is a quiet gentle boy who enjoys being with people and would love to have his own home again where he is part of the family. .
Lucky loves going for walks and is keen to go as soon as he sees the lead. He goes for 30 – 40 minute long walks and manages these easily. He is so keen to go that he does pull for the first few minutes but quickly wears himself out and walks nicely on the lead. Lucky is not reactive to other dogs and shows no interest in them when out on the lead. He is not a yappy dog and only barks to alert you if required.
All training has been done and Lucky understands basic commands, is toilet trained and crate trained. He sleeps inside over night in his crate which means there is no need to get up during the night to let him out. During the day he is outside in the yard with two other dogs but is inside when his foster family are home. When it is time to sit down at night Lucky will find the closest available knee and settle down for a snooze. He is still keen to play but will have short bursts of energy before finding a spot in the sun.
The perfect home for Lucky would be where he is treated as part of the family, allowed inside and has company most of the time so would suit someone who is retired/semi retired or works from home. He would also be happy in a home where he had a doggy buddy for company with a similar energy level. Lucky is a gentle old soul who makes a perfect companion dog and he is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the best parts of owning a dog without the time and training commitments of a younger dog.
For more information or to meet Lucky, please contact his foster carer Sarah on 0403 743 099 or email sarahfosterdogs@gmail.com. Lucky is in foster care in Thornton 2322, NSW (near Maitland, northwest of Newcastle).
Lucky's adoption fee is only $100 because of his senior status and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
