About Puppy Poppy (pend adopt 17/1/15)~ Staffy x
Hi my name is Poppy and I am an irresistible 6 week-old Staffy x puppy just waiting to find my loving “Forever” home. I would love a home with children to play with as I am currently in foster care with a family with children and I greet them each morning with love and affection and a big sloppy kiss. I enjoy exploring the backyard (not too long as I am still so young).
My favourite things to do are playing with children, playing with my sister Willow, and snuggling with my foster mummy whenever I can. I love to spend time with other dogs. Although I haven’t met any cats yet, I’m only young and I’m sure I will get to love them too.
I was born with a cleft palate which will be repaired at DRN's expense when I'm 4 months old. It doesn't affect me very much now. I am eating puppy food and puppy milk really well and may only need to avoid having bones in the future.
My life didn’t start out the best -- I was found abandoned on the Fernleigh Track along with my 4 sisters Willow, Melody, Beauty and Hope (Hope didn't survive), dumped because we all have cleft palates.
I am small for my age but I have already come along in leaps and bounds and am filling out nicely. I am in good health according to the vets, and they think that I will be a medium sized dog when fully grown.
I can be quite shy at first but once I get to know you I am very happy and loving. I am the thinker and observer of the family and like to watch before I jump into any situation, but as long as I feel safe I love to have a go at anything.
--------------------
Poppy is full of love and enjoys the company of people, she loves nothing better than being part of her human family and having cuddles and snuggles. She is a very pretty puppy with the classic Staffy brindle colouring.
We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life.
Due to Poppy's young age she will require company from either her human family or from another dog because young pups cannot be left alone for long periods of time. Poppy also needs to sleep inside at least, until she is fully grown (and preferably all her life), and we always recommend inside time with the family to ensure she feels loved by her family.
Poppy will be ready to go to her forever home in mid January when she is 10 weeks old. But you can meet her now and, if approved, you can pay a deposit to reserve her for you. Poppy and Willow are in care in Toukley, NSW 2263 (Central Coast). Beauty and Melody are in foster care in Elermore Vale, NSW 2287 (Newcastle).
Poppy and her sisters are available for adoption only to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because they need to come back to our vet for their cleft palate surgery and desexing at 4 months of age.
If you can offer Poppy a loving, secure, forever home where she will be cherished and treated as part of the family then please contact Michelle by email mishl33@hotmail.com or phone 02 4951 1896 (Email is preferred). Please be patient if your email or phone call is not answered immediately as this time of year can be quite busy). You can speed up your application by downloading our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf then filling it out and emailing it to Michelle.
Poppy's adoption fee is only $450 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
