About Buddy (On Trial 24/1/15) ~ smiling blue cattle dog
Buddy is a 5 year old, blue Australian Cattle Dog. He has a kind, loving face with a big smile. He very rarely barks, which is great in a dog! He is fine to wait at home while you go to work and will sit quietly in his kennel and just watch the world go by.
Buddy would love to be your walking or running partner or accompany you on trips to the dog beach or bush.
He loves to play chase with other dogs but they need to be his size or larger to keep up with him. So, he would be suited to being either an only dog, or living with dogs his own size or larger. He hasn't encountered cats or other animals while he's been with us.
I don't have children so it's hard to fully judge how he would be living with them, but he has had small children aged 2 to 4 years old pat him and he was fine and loved the attention. He has even had one encounter with a new born, he loved her and even licked her feet.
He sleeps outside in a kennel and seems absolutely fine with it. He doesn't bark or cry at night. He sleeps through fine. He was an outside dog before coming to rescue so isn't yet fully housetrained. But he's good to train and can learn. He likes to dig in a sandpit and play chase with other dogs. He will need good fences 5 to 6 feet.
Buddy can sit when asked and is just learning how to walk on lead. He hasn't been lucky enough to have someone take the time to train him yet so he is a blank slate ready to learn everything that you want to teach him. He loves food so responds very well to training for food rewards and tries very hard to please you. If you could take him to dog training classes or train him at home you'll have one really great dog.
For more information or to meet Buddy, please contact his foster carer Brittany on 0402 848 266. Buddy is in foster care in Bolton Point, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Buddy's adoption fee is only $300 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
