Renaldo (On Trial 4/1/15~ German Shepherd x Kelpie

Renaldo is an 18 month old, low maintenance, German Shepherd x Kelpie who bounced into foster care and hasn’t looked back. He is a handsome young boy who is melting the heart of everyone he meets. He is a very friendly and quiet boy, is fantastic with kids and other dogs, currently living with 3 others a Jack Russell x, a Staffy, and a Labrador.

Because of his beautiful gentle nature, Renaldo and would suit any family situation or even someone living on their own who has time for him and welcomes him inside their home as part of the family. He loves to spend time outside, but loves it just as much or more to be inside and close to you. He loves nothing more than to sit and cuddle with you on the lounge but is also quite happy to lay at your feet. Renaldo currently sleeps inside at night beside the carers bed (would sleep on it if invited) with access to the backyard. I think he would like a doggie door.

Renaldo walks well on the leash, sits and comes on command and is learning other commands such as stay and lay down. He is an extremely intelligent dog and a very fast learner so we recommend that he receive some ongoing training to ensure he gets the best start to being a wonderful part of your family.

Renaldo is not a barker but he will alert you if anyone is around and will cease barking when asked. He is not a digger or escape artist and toilets in areas away from his bed and the house. Renaldo will alert you to needing to go out to the toilet when inside or if his water bowl is empty by gently nudging you. He has shown no aggression towards people or other dogs around food.

Renaldo is not a jumper but high fencing is recommended with a large yard to run around in if he is to be left alone for long periods of time. He would love a play mate, perhaps you already have a friendly dog who would love a fur brother? Renaldo loves to go for a walk and to meet people, he loves the beach and swimming with the other dogs. Remember Renaldo is still young and can be quite cheeky and will collect and chew items - the Xmas tree and all its decorations are very enticing - nothing like a glittering bauble to play with.

Not owning any other animals I cannot say how Renaldo would get along with cats, birds etc however he has never shown any aggression towards cats or rabbits out on our walks and has never attempted to chase the native birds that come into the backyard.
