About Walter - Adoption Pending
Hi, my name is Walter. I am a 5 year old chihuahua. I have very beautiful chocolate and white markings that will have people coming up to you cooing over me.
I am a sweet-natured boy and I tend to be a little on the shy side when I first meet strangers. However if you give me a little time I do come out of my shell then I am so delightful to have around. Once I trust you, you will see that I am very loyal and devoted to those who I love.
I didn't have the best start to life. I was handed into rspca with a broken jaw. The good news is it's all fixed and I am now looking for a new family to call my own and love.
Sadly however I have been diagnosed with severe degenerative hip dysplasia. Whilst being in care with CRQ, the team looked into surgery for me however it was not recommended by their vet surgeon as being a viable option for me. The whole CRQ team were heartbroken when they realised my hips weren't going to be fixed, and that I will be on pain medication for the rest of my life, however that doesn't stop me from living my life to the fullest.
My dream family would be someone with a low set house and no children. I would love to have a very patient owner who will love and spoil me but also understand I will need my own space to settle in. But when I am comfortable prepare for lots of cuddles and kisses!! I would also love to have a play mate in a quiet dog or cat as I love both.
If you think you can give me a loving forever home please contact the lovely people at Chihuahua Rescue Queensland. I look forward to meeting you.
Love always, Walter.

Medical notes
Walter was taken to the RSPCA with a broken jaw. The RSPCA repaired this and then sent him to us for foster care and rehoming.
Walter was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia that is unable to be repaired via surgery. He will unfortunately be on pain medication for the rest of his life, and has therefore been catagorized as one of our special needs chihuahuas.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Moorooka or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please email chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com for an Adoption Application. From there, we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to talk further about your application and if successful, to arrange a meet and greet.
Prior to adoption, all dogs will need to have a meet and greet with their family, and a house check will be done. All adoptions are subject to a two week trial to ensure your new friend fits in well with your household.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
