About Mocha ~ Staffy girl, (on trial 4/5/15)
Mocha is a 6 year old, female, Staffy with the classic brindle colouring. She loves being close to the humans in her life and happily trots around behind them making sure she doesn’t miss out on anything. She would love to have a family that was home a lot but doesn’t seem to stress when she is left alone. Mocha is not an escape artist, rarely barks and is quite happy to lay around while you are away from the home – a juicy bone or chew is always welcome to keep her occupied. She needs to be welcome indoors when people are home. She has quite a short coat and will feel the cold so she should sleep inside, at least during the cooler months.
Mocha is a very friendly girl. She is great with kids but as she tends to jump up and wrap her paws around you, she may knock over a little one (work in progress to correct this). She is friendly with other dogs and currently living with two others. As Mocha does not live with cats or other pets I cannot say how she would be with them, she has never shown any aggression towards cats or rabbits out on our walks and has never attempted to chase the native birds that come into the backyard.
Mocha had never previously had the to play games but is now learning to enjoy a ball game and a game of tug of war. She loves to walk on the beach but hasn’t yet warmed to going for a swim, a short paddle is about her limit at this stage.
Mocha came from a puppy farm and was used solely for breeding and had never been given the opportunity to be part of a family, to be loved. But now is adoring the attention she receives! Gone is the look of tiredness and sadness from her eyes, gone are the chronic ear and skin infections she came with. Mocha now walks with pride with eyes that gleam with happiness, with a shine on her coat and a tail that constantly wags.
Mocha has never been given any basic training but is learning the basic commands of sit, lay down, come etc. She is learning to walk on the leash but has the tendency to pull a little, again this is work in progress and she is continually improving. Mocha is not a fussy eater and doesn’t show any food aggression to people or dogs. She adores munching on bones and other tasty treats. She loves being with you and is constantly by your side, she currently sleeps inside and would love to sleep on the bed if invited. \
Mocha is a very lovable, affectionate and well behaved girl and just wants a family of her own to love.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
