About Christa (On Trial 30/12/14))
Christa a 3.5 year old Fox Terrier, the girl with the 'I Love You' face! This gorgeous girl is an absolute delight! Smart, pretty and undemanding. Plus the love heart markings on her face are so cute!
Christa is the perfect combination of playful and chilled. She is not challenging nor high energy, she is just as happy to hang out with you doing nothing as she is having a little play or a walk. With a very relaxed nature, Christa is happy to play with her toys on her own but especially loves to play with other dogs. We would love for her to go to a home with another dog.
Christa was surrendered to DRN as her previous owner's situation changed and they were no longer able to look after her. She was outside 24/7 and left on her own for extended periods of time, so she is really enjoying being able to hang out with her foster family inside and was toilet trained within 2 days. Did I mention how smart she is? She must be allowed inside when anyone is home and must sleep inside in her adoptive home. She's had enough of the lonely life and we want a better life for her now.
Christa is fantastic with our 2 year old son, who can be a bit unpredictable and scary to some dogs but she just takes it in her stride and has never even flinched, no matter how unexpected and overzealous his attention has been. She just takes it all in her stride and rolls over for a tummy rub.
Christa can be quite the character with her fly chasing antics - so if you hate flies, this is the girl for you. She will hunt them down and stop that buzzing around, pronto! And make you laugh in the process.
Previously, having not had any toys or other dogs for company, Christa has learn't quickly that both toys and other dogs can be a lot of fun. She loves a good belly rub! Don't we all?
Christa is not a needy dog and is comfortable in her own company outside when she needs to be but has quickly become used to sleeping indoors now. She would be fine with someone who works, but another dog for company is a must if she was to be left at home during the working day. But if you were home all the time and Christa could be with you 24/7 then she could be ok with that too, I'm sure. Christa does enjoy just 'being' with you.
Foxies are renowned for their loyalty and Christa will not disappoint you there! In the first week of being with her foster family, and still missing her previous family, no doubt, she managed to get out the front but only went to check out the next door neighbor's driveway and came straight back in. Christa walks really well on a lead and socializes well at the nearby dog park. So once she bonds with you, it will be a strong one!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
