About Tilly (adopted 4/4/15)
Hello, my name is Tilly and I am an 8 year old Maltese and my foster mummy thinks I am an angel and super sweet. My favourite things to do are sit on your lap and cuddle or trot around the house with you.
Currently I am living with 3 other small dogs which I like very much because they are gentle and patient with me. I also live with 2 cats who are lovely to watch run around but I don't like chasing them and I even let them eat out of my bowl when I think no one is watching.
I am told that I have some lovely manners as I never snatch food, I don't jump up and I always wait to be invited through doors instead of rushing through them. I also know how to get the most treats from my foster mummy by going to the bathroom outside or, as they say, I am toilet trained. When someone comes to the door I will be your little doorbell and let you know but otherwise I do not like to vocalise much. I am an indoor dog of course.
My non-shedding coat needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep me comfortable and beautiful.
I love lounging around and believe that any surface can be a bed. I enjoy sleeping on dog beds, couches, tables and human beds but my favourite place is human laps. They are so comfortable and it is the best place to get pats and be told how pretty I am. I also enjoy car rides and sit calmly for the whole trip no matter how far we need to go. When walking I do like to get there first so tend to walk at the very end of the lead but I don't pull because I'm not a silly, young dog anymore.
I can take a while to warm up to new surroundings so need someone who is going to be patient with me until I find my feet again because once I do I'm going to be your best friend.
My perfect home would have someone home a lot of the time and no young children, as I need gentle hands and pats. I would love to be an only dog or have another friendly, patient, little dog or cat for a friend. I would need to sleep inside as I have gotten used to the royal treatment and would not cope as an outside dog. Can I come hang my stocking above your fireplace?
For more information or to meet sweet Tilly, please contact Kirrily on 0401826295 or email c3090638@uon.edu.au . Tilly is in foster care in Port Macquarie NSW (2.5hrs north of Newcastle).
Tilly's adoption fee is only $300 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Medical Note: Tilly is currently taking Prednisone - a very inexpensive steroid tablet that helps to stop her skin being itchy. The vet suggested that she may need to continue on the medication every summer.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
