About Roma (On Trial 9/12/14) ~ border collie
Roma is a beautiful, short-hair Border Collie x who is approximately 2 years old. She is looking for lots of love and will become absolutely devoted to you. Roma is very playful and active and would like a family to spend lots of time with and go for lots of runs and walks. She is quite good on the lead and doesn't pull unless she really wants to see another dog. Roma would be happy to have another dog for company - she is currently living with 2 other dogs and they all walk, play and eat together well. She hasn't met any cats or other pets so I'm not sure how she would go with those.
She very rarely barks - which is a rare and wonderful trait in a dog!
Roma is very good with children of all ages. She loves playing with my 16 month old son and is very tolerant even when he is a bit rough (note: dogs should always be supervised around young children).
Roma loves cuddles and being with people. She will happily sit down on her bed inside during the evening and just enjoy being with you. She would prefer to sleep inside but would probably be ok sleeping outside if she had a good kennel in sheltered spot under cover and a nice bed).
Roma was originally from a farm so she is still learning a lot of things. She is very smart and is learning very quickly and would benefit from continued training. She can sit and lie down and she is getting good at playing fetch. We are house training her and she is doing well but can still have the odd accident from time to time.
Roma is very good off-lead and she will return when called. She is not an escape artist. She needs stimulation and toys to play with or other dogs for company if her family will be out for a long time during the day. Roma loves to chase the water from the hose and cool off when it is hot. She also likes to throw her toys in the air and then chase them and chew them. She loves to have a bone to chew.
She is a very cute, quiet, well-behaved girl and just wants to have a family of her own to love.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
