About Felicity (on trial 5/12/14) fox terrier x whippet
Felicity (AKA Flick) is a happy and affectionate 1 year old foxy x whippet. \ She is happiest chewing on her bone outside, lying in the sun or cuddled up on your lap. She gets along well with other dogs and also cats. She is a gentle natured girl and I have no doubt she would suit children of any age. She is small to medium sized, a bit larger than a fox terrier.
She loves to play by herself with her ball or toys and prances around the house with her stuffed gorilla in her mouth. She is a perfect angel when it comes to toilet training and makes a noise at the door ask to go out to the grass.
Flick is energetic but seems to have the ability to fall asleep anywhere at any time - it’s really quite a talent. I think she’d be happy with a backyard and a walk on most days. She is not a high maintenance dog by any means, but if you wanted to, you could wrap her up like a baby and carry her around and she would be in absolute heaven.
Flick likes the company of people, dogs or cats (but is good by herself also) and usually follows me around the house and either sleeps wherever I am or plays quietly. She squeals with absolute happiness when my husband or I get home from work.
Flick has never had any obedience training. She has not yet mastered her “sit” command yet but she is so willing to please that I think she will be easy to train with reward based training. \ She has a slight limp from being hit by a car several weeks ago but we think this should improve over time, but it doesn't bother her. Other than that, she is in perfect health.
She is an absolute foodie. She vacuums down her food at light speed and is always on the lookout for more.
Felicity is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. When it’s time to go to bed of a night she happily jumps into her bed and settles for the night until the next morning. But she loves to come up into our bed for a cuddle when she’s invited. She is really a very affectionate dog and I think she’d be suited to someone who has a lot of love and cuddles to give.
To sum up, here are five words that describe Flick: loving, happy, loyal, gentle and people-pleaser.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
