Happy, Handsome Harry
Harry is a young boy, about 18 months old now. He is a kind, gentle soul with caring eyes. He's still young so he easily gets excited; however, if you speak to him he tries hard to understand what it is that you're asking of him. This young man has been exceptionally well socialised with other dogs. Harry has been taught an extensive vocabulary. Here's a list of the words he already knows and understands- Good Boy (his favourite), listen, leave, give, wait, ah ah; comes before a big NO! (Least favourite) wait, back, come, inside, outside, up, down. One of the most important commands with dogs, in my opinion, is "leave". I have taken Harry a bit further at times when I feed him. Already waiting and in a sit position l can place Harry's food in front of him and walk five steps away, turn around and keep him waiting for up to a minute (that's an off lead sit stay) then give him the signal to eat. Harry is motivated not just by food but, he also possesses an intense desire to please, which is a magical bonus. Further obedience training would be wonderful for Harry, not only will he benefit from reinforcement of already learned commands, ongoing training will keep him thinking and learning plus will also assist him to bond and develop a strong relationship with his new family; whilst keep his socialisation skills up as he develops. This goofy guy will need a family who can spend a lot of time with him, quite possibly a home with a well adjusted dog who he can learn more from and play lots. He loves chewing on great big juicy marrow bones and playing with balls and squeaky toys, he has his own little brown teddy that he sleeps with. On the lead Harry walks nicely at your side on his harness. He still requires lots more on lead work but, as I said, he does listen and knows that I will not tolerate being pulled and lugged around.
Harry is microchipped as Great Dane x however I don't think there's much GD in him. My best guess, judging by his head shape, body composition, colouring and the way he holds his ears is that he's a Greyhound x Kelpie. He looks like a heavy set, bulkier version of a greyhound. So he's a large breed boy who has done all his growing.
Harry needs love, patience and repetition. Look into his eyes, he's waiting, he needs his forever, his happily ever after.
