About Sandy *On Trial in His New Home*
*SANDY IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet beautiful boofer Sandy!! He loves people, loves food, loves water, loves food, loves walks, loves food, loves toys, loves food, loves cats and did we happen to mention he loves food???
Adorable Sandy was surrendered to SARG for rehousing as a back problem meant his owner could no longer walk him which wasn’t fair on Sandy as he enjoys getting out and about for his daily walk. Being a Labrador Sandy LOVES food so a home where his food intake will be monitored and where he’ll get plenty of exercise is a must. There is a plus side to his food “obsession” and that means that Sandy is very easy to train using treats as a reward - he knows “sit” and now knows to “wait” before his dinner is placed in front of him and we reckon he’d be willing to learn more. \ We wouldn’t recommend him to a home with young children until he learns to take treats gently as he snatches – it’s that greedy Lab thing! One thing he doesn’t do is jump up on you, he just bounces up and down like a kangaroo when he’s excited!
Sandy’s a friendly, happy boy who gets along with like-minded dogs - he’s in foster care with a Rottweiler and a Border Collie and they like hanging out together or having the occasional play (tug-o-war is fun!) as well as going for walks. What Sandy doesn’t enjoy is young, silly dogs who are constantly in his face so a home with a mature/ calm dog would be perfect as he really does enjoy having a doggie mate around. He’s ok with cats as well, having shared a yard with two in his previous life.
Being 4½ years old Sandy’s out of the chewing and digging stage although he does like to dig himself a bit of a hollow to lie in when it’s hot; speaking of which, Sandy really loves water, so a kiddie pool in the summer months is a must so he can cool off whenever he feels the urge to do so. He’s a terrific swimmer too and his carer often walks Sandy down to the local wetlands for a dip.

Sandy has only ever been an outside dog though we reckon he’d quickly adjust to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle in a home where he’ll receive daily exercise with either a doggie companion or on his own, but only if he won’t be left alone for long periods of time while you’re at work as he’s used to company. Secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with will make Sandy very happy indeed!

Medical notes
Sandy is desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and wormed.
Weight: 40kgs approx.
Sandy has recently been treated for a ‘hotspot’ on either side of his face, these will need to be kept an eye on so they don’t develop again.

Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
