Adoption information
I've been adopted!
About Joey - hates cats, children and little dogs.
Joey is a special needs dog. He has been abused, and he will fear bite if cornered. He needs a special owner.
Joey is such a sweet heart whose beautiful, brown eyes draw you in and capture you.
His adorable overbite matches his character perfectly.
This quirky little boy is fun-loving and loyal to his own family.
He isn’t overly keen on cats or children and would best be suited in an environment with adults only. He’d very happily be an only dog but has been assessed and is dog friendly – another calm, big doggy friend would be his ideal companion. Having said this, he would not be suitable to have at an off-lead dog park as he can be uncomfortable and wary around some dogs and this causes him to growl and snap. He would prefer to walk on past dogs he passes on walks and not stop to have a sniff.
He’s quite an independent little guy and is quite happy to venture around the yard on his own – he definitely doesn’t need you by his side all day. He’s got selective hearing and will only come when he wants to but he’ll always run to greet you when you head outside and he will lap up all the cuddles and tummy rubs you are willing to offer! He also plays fetch – but doesn’t quite understand to give the ball or toy back!
Joey isn’t an annoying, yappy dog which is a bonus, however, having said this, he will bark if someone walks by the house or if you or someone else is out the front – he’ll stop once they have passed or if you go inside.
A super added bonus... he is not afraid of fireworks! He was totally chilled out on New Year's Eve - made his foster mummy and daddy so proud.
Joey didn’t have a great beginning when he first came into care - he had a massive infection on his skin, some of his teeth were all completely rotten and had to be pulled out, his boy bits were infected and he was a bit angry. Now that his rotten teeth have all been pulled out (he lost six, so he can still bite) and his infections have completely cleared up, he is much happier. He still, however, is very nervous and cautious around new people and his new owners will have to keep that in mind for his lifetime. Once you take him for a quick walk and give him some of his favourite treats, you’ll be best buddies.
Joey walks keenly on a lead (however barks and pulls when passing other dogs), travels very well in the car).
Joey has certainly stolen my heart.
