About Oscar ~ Gizmo versus Gremlin ~ Trial 28/3/15
My name is Oscar and I'm an adorably cute, scruffy Jack Russell Terrier who is full of charm.I have big puppy eyes that will melt your heart,I'm just like Gizmo from the movie Gremlins-cuddly, squishy and lovable!I have an alter ego though so don't let my cuteness fool you! My alter ego is Gremlin (clearly someone accidentally fed me after midnight). I have a fear of strangers and visitors so as soon as people I don't know visit, you can say goodbye Gizmo and hello Gremlin!
My Gremlin alter-ego’s fear of people unknown causes me to become highly agitated, growl and bark hysterically like a demon, and I'll go in for a bite! When your visitors come over, they better watch their legs as I will run up and bite them and then dart away.If they bend down to pat me Gremlin will attempt to take a finger or two for my collection. Most visitors will run like Forest Gump when they hear my frenzied horrid bark!Who would have thought that such a horrible nasty sound could come from such a cute and cuddly package like me?
If you don't want your neighbours coming over to borrow a cup of sugar,if you don't want the in-laws staying or if you are sick of your teenagers' friends constantly visiting and raiding the fridge then I'm the dog for you!My Gremlin alter-ego will sort that out for you in no time - Run Forest Run!
My foster family and my trainer are working very hard to help me tame my Gremlin side.As much as I would love to remove the postman's fingers I am learning that biting is not good doggy manners.Visitors are given treats to reward me for being like Gizmo when they come over.I don't want to be like Gremlin with visitors and strangers - I want to be like Gizmo!I need a loving and dedicated furever family who will commit to my continued training teaching me that visitors are good people who want to keep their fingers and ankles intact!
I love walking with my foster brothers and sisters.I'm happy to walk with you wherever you want to go,when we pass a stranger or another dog Gremlin reappears and I bark like a crazy banshee! With encouragement and guidance from my foster family I am learning this is not a good reaction and to keep walking.Until Gremlin is tamed,I need to be kept on leash when out and about.
When it comes to my family I am all love and affection-I am totally cuddly Gizmo! I show you how much I love you by sitting by your side and giving you sloppy kisses.I look at you lovingly with my big brown eyes as if I'm waiting for your approval.I have shown my foster family that I can be the best companion dog you could ever ask for!I wait at the door when you get home from a hard day at the office, I give you a kiss and cuddle, I follow you whilst you put your bag down and wait patiently for you to sit down so that I can listen to how your day was.I’m a great listener if you have woes!
I'm in foster care with 3 other dogs who I love! When I first came into foster care I was not very social with dogs, so Gremlin appeared. It took several days to adjust to living with other dogs but now I run around and play with them.I play fetch as it’s my favourite game ever! I’m usually the first one to get the ball because I’m so fast (I’ve had lots of practice chasing visitors).I interact well with other dogs once I know them so Gremlin rarely appears once I’m settled.I just need a little help and understanding until I get to know them, and then I’m their loyal best friend.
I may not be a perfect little dog–but then again who is perfect?Being a problem child is what makes me different and special in my own unique way. What I lack in control with strangers and visitors,I most certainly make up for with love for my family.
If you want a quirky loving, affectionate and loyal companion, please call my foster mum Jodie on 0433 178 177 or jobryant@netspace.net.au.I would love to meet you and show you that Oscar,Gizmo AND Gremlin can be your most loving little companion dog.
Medical notes
Healthy Gremlin who prefers to be like Gizmo.
Once I am welcomed into your family I will show you love, obedience, loyalty and trust. My Gremlin alter-ego will also give your vistors' a run-for their-money whilst you commit to my ongoing training with introductions to strangers and visitors. I just need a chance to show you that I am a very special little boy who can bring a lot of love and happiness to your lives.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
