On Hold
About Polly (On hold adoption 2/12/14) ~ special Maltese
Hi I’m “POLLY” an 8 year old Maltese. My foster mum calls me Princess Polly. I am deaf therefore I do not bark. Some people may think being deaf is a disability but not for me, I am a perfectly normal dog, I just cannot hear. The only thing this stops me from doing is being a watch dog, as I cannot hear strange people coming to the door or yard, other than that I am no different from any other dog. If you would like to train me to do tricks and other things you can use hand signals.
I am in foster care with 4 doggy friends and I love them all - they range from 15kgs down to 3 kgs. I weigh 5kgs so I'm pretty small but not too small and I get along with any size dogs.
I love love LOVE my walks out on a lead with my foster family! When not out walking I am happy to be home just lazing around enjoying being inside, yep I am an inside girl. I do not shed so that makes it pretty easy to have me inside. I am a bit sad that at the pound they cut my coat really short but when it grows back I will have the most beautiful soft coat! My lovely coat needs brushing weekly, bathing every 3 to 4 weeks, and clipping every 4 to 6 weeks to keep me looking as a princess should.
I enjoy being in the car and sit perfectly on the seat. I sleep peacefully in my bed in my mum’s room of a night. I am going pretty well with my toilet training - sometimes I have a little accident but am getting better every day.
Please don't apply to adopt me if you work full time as I don’t want to be home alone all the time. I do not complain when I am left alone but I am dreaming of a home where I can be with my new family a lot. I am perfect to take absolutely anywhere you go. I love cuddles but I’m also ok when I know my family are busy doing other things - I just lay in my bed and chill out. I’m a very relaxed girl. So if you want a forever princess to love, I will love you back forever and ever.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
