About Basil (on trial 14/11/14)~ JrtxFox Terrier
Basil is a 3 year old (approx.) wired hair Jack Russell cross Fox Terrier who has a fun, playful personality and enjoys playing with his toys, going for walks and sitting down for a cuddle when it is time for a rest!
He is a happy soul who is easy to have around the house and is fully toilet trained. Basil has a great wiry coat that doesn’t shed and will only require a weekly brush to keep him tangle free.
At 7.5kg Basil is compact with short legs and a long body and is very easy to handle. Basil loves going for a 30 – 40 minute walk which is great for burning off some energy and walks nicely on a harness. He does get excited at other dogs when out for a walk and will need further training. Basil knows basic commands and has learnt to sit and wait before eating and is not protective of his food.
Basil currently lives with two other dogs, a 13kg male and 30 kg female, who he loves to play with. He can be high energy and has learnt to re direct his attention to toys when the other two have had enough. He is allowed inside with his foster family and sleeps inside a night but is also happy outside in the yard during the day. In the evenings Basil will settle down with the family and enjoys having a pat and a cuddle.
Basil’s ideal home would be with an active family who are happy to include him as part of daily family life and would be happy with another dog for company or where someone is home during the day. He would be best suited in a home with children aged 10 plus as he can be energetic and may get under the feet of smaller children. Basil has not been tested with cats or pocket pets.
For more information or to meet Basil please phone foster carer Sarah 0403 743099 or email sjwray16@gmail.com. Basil is in foster care in Thornton, NSW.
Basil’ $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
