About Flicka
Flicka is one of our special little "honorary chihuahuas". She is one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs you will ever meet. Flicka loves nothing more then nuzzling in for a cuddle. She loves to sleep under her foster carers bed, knowing she is close by.
Skeeter would be a great family dog, she is friendly with every person she meets and very social with other dogs. Cats don't bother her at all, and she's currently being fostered with a very large dog and some tiny ones who she is very gentle with! I believe Flicka has had a difficult past as she is very nervous. She needs an owner who is confident in helping an anxious dog regain trust and confidence. She is currently very fond of her crate and sleeps in it at night, inside near her foster family.
One of the questions I get asked more then any other is "Why do you have other breeds available for adoption when you are a chihuahua rescue?"
As we've become more established as a Qld dog rescue and built some strong relationships within the rescue world, I find myself becoming so discouraged and disheartened at how many mixed breed dogs are dying in pounds. We are a Chihuahua Rescue group and we have chihuahuas available for adoption and always will. But if there are other dogs who have no other options, and we have foster carers available, we will take on other breeds.
Flicka came to us from the Warwick pound thanks to our friends in Pound Paws. She had no other options. She was due to be euthanized, and none of the breed-appropriate rescue groups had room for her, so we took her into care.
Medical notes
Flicka has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. She has had full blood tests that have revealed she is healthy and she has had her teeth cleaned. She has previously been used for breeding, however is in good health. Flicka has been treated with parasite prevention and has been tested for heartworm.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please email chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com for an Adoption Application. From there, we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to talk further about your application and if successful, to arrange a meet and greet.
Prior to adoption, all dogs will need to have a meet and greet with their family, and a house check will be done. All adoptions are subject to a two week trial to ensure your new friend fits in well with your household.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
