On Hold
About Floyd (On Trial 5/12/14) ~ border collie
Floyd is a 6 month old, purebred, Border Collie. He has a wonderful nature and just loves to play. He loves digging in his sandpit. But his favourite game is fetch. He brings the ball back to you every time! His best friend is a cocker spaniel and spends endless hours running around with her. Sometimes Floyd is nervous when he meets new doggy playmates but warms up to them very quickly. Floyd would be best suited to a home with other dogs to run around with.
He gets along great with kids but is still learning not to jump up. He has learnt how to sit and stay with treats. But since he is still a puppy he sometimes needs to be reminded. Like any dog, he would benefit from ongoing training. Floyd is a clever boy and is very eager to please so I'm sure he will excel at training.
Floyd is great with other dogs, even smaller ones, and with cats. He is not suited to pocket pets or poultry. He needs 5 foot fencing. He has a low maintenance, short coat.
Floyd is a great companion. He will happily follow you around to see what you are up to. He needs to be allowed inside and will very happily snuggle on the lounge with you. He spends his days coming in and out of the house but is happy to sleep outside so long as he has a good kennel.
For more information or to meet Floyd, please contact his foster carer Leah on 02-6567-1577(during the day) or 0417 197 313 or email leahdyson@hotmail.com. Floyd is in foster care in Kempsey, NSW (mid north coast).
Floyd's adoption fee is only $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical Notes:
When Floyd came into care he had a mild case of demodectic mange. Demodectic mange is related to poor nutrition and neglect - it is not contagious. Floyd has been receiving mange medication and treatment for 2 months and during this time his immune system has recovered and he has gone from strength to strength.
Floyd still needs weekly medication injections until late November (which we will supply). He will make a full recovery with the help of a continued nutritious diet long term to keep his immune system healthy. We are looking for a furever family who will commit to his medication short term and his wellbeing for the rest of his life.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
