About Shandi (On Trial 6/1/14) ~ Chihuahua, senior girl
Shandi, female, Chihuahua x, approximately 9 years old, weighing only 2.5kg. She is a precious little flower who will be an ideal companion for a retired person who would enjoy having a loyal friend. Shandi likes to play with toys and relax on a soft cushion.
She is housetrained and is an indoor dog. She would like to sleep in your bedroom, or even your bed, because she feels safe and happy when near you.
Shandi hasn't had much experience walking on a lead but she walks well along side you. She needs a very secure yard as she is tiny and can fit through small gaps. She is frightened in the car, so she needs some reassurance and patience. She travels best in a crate, and may get travel sick.
Shandi gets along well with other dogs of a similar size. She was living with many other dogs before her owner died and she and many other dogs were rescued. She needs to live with another small dog. If you don't have one, Shandi's little friend Pipsqueak the Chihuahua is also available for adoption and they make a cute pair.
Shandi wouldn't suit a busy home with children. She'd be ideal for a retired couple or single who wants a little friend to love.
For more information or to meet Shandi, please contact Donna on 0466 099 426 or email trudgetty@hotmail.com. Shandi is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW (Newcastle).
Shandi's adoption fee is $200 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
