On Hold
About Ralph (medical hold)~ German Shepherd x
Ralph is a 7 year old, male, German Shepherd x. He is an absolute gentleman who is extremely affectionate and well mannered. He responds to the basic commands such as sit, come and shake hands. He is very well behaved indoors, is house trained and is able to use a dog door. Ralph is very friendly with children, adults and other dogs. He is currently living with 2 large dogs but doesn’t get along very well with cats.
Ralphy enjoys a leisurely daily walk and walks well on lead. He only requires a 10 minute daily walk as he has arthritis in his back legs. He has recently received treatment for this and may require ongoing treatment in the future.
Ralph is a large boy, approximately 40kg, who is happy to lie around in the yard with his doggie mates but is really looking for a home where he can be near you as he loves human companionship. He loves to lie on his mat next to you in the lounge room and will need to sleep indoors on a comfy bed, especially in the cooler weather.
Although he is a real ‘tough’ dog in appearance he is actually a big sook who loves his teddies and doggie toys. He enjoys a short game of fetch and loves to play tug-o-war. Ralph can sometimes be a little protective of his favourite teddy with the other dogs but is not aggressive in any way. He can always be found lying quietly with a toy or teddy close by.
Ralph is able to sit and wait briefly for his food and has not shown any signs of food aggression. He really enjoys meal times! His face lights up and his whole body wags when he sees his bowl. He is however very carefully watching his weight as he needs to maintain his lean figure for summer. Ralph also loves his bath, especially when you massage the shampoo into his thick coat. He enjoys a hydro bath and even loves the blow-dry.
Ralph is a very laid back kind of dog who rarely barks but is always smiling! He would be best suited to someone who is at home most of the time. Ralph is looking for a loving forever home where he will be cared for in his senior years. If you love large dogs that give awesome cuddles and adore belly rubs, but don’t wish to exercise too much then Ralphy boy is the dog for you. He will put a smile on your face and a warm glow in your heart every day.
For more information or to meet Ralph, please contact his foster carer, Michelle, on 0422652530 or email michelle.jackson@live.com.au. Ralph is in foster care in Cessnock, NSW, which is located northwest of Newcastle. He is not available for adoption interstate.
Ralph's adoption fee is only $100 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
