About Hero ~ Mini Bully Cross ~ On Trial 29/11/14
Take a look at this exceptional little character and best buddy in waiting! Hero is a Miniature Bull Terrier x Jack Russell around 3.5 years old, and he’s looking to join a family or single owner, male or female.
This is the boy for you if you’re too macho to be seen walking the wife’s poodle. He’ll make a loyal and dependable little mate, and his pecs will probably put even yours to shame! He’s very solid and muscled, and low to the ground, but his spirit is warm and affectionate and full of humour. He’s a positive and happy little guy who doesn’t ever seem to be sad or lost; he knows there’s someone coming to love and adopt him, he’s just not sure when. But in the meantime there are balls to chase, and rocks to harass, and no time left to waste!
Hero is very active and likes to play with a pet rock. He bats it with his feet to get it to move, or nudges it with his nose, chases it, then starts the process again.(If you’d like to see it, click on the following link – the little guy is a star on Youtube!) ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cktZtA6HDPM&feature=youtu.be
Of course, if you’ll throw the ball for him that’s a wonderful treat and he’ll chase it for hours if you can stay that long. He thinks a walk on the lead is pretty cool too, and he struts out, looking around like he owns the place. He is quite a strong dog and he walks quickly, but he is not difficult to manage.
We think Hero would be best placed in a home without other dogs, or perhaps with one other. He does like to meet other dogs, but sometimes they disappoint him. As you can imagine, a name like his puts a lot of responsibility on a dog, and he prefers to devote himself to people. He’s good with kids, older children or teenagers in particular, and he loves them to play with him. He travels well in the car.
Hero is happy to be outside during the day -- so long as he can find a rock or a ball he can amuse himself, but he needs to come inside at night and spend time with everyone. He would be ok in a situation where everyone went out to work, so long as he was included in daily activities, frequently walked, and given love and time.
If you think this little dog sounds like YOUR Hero, please phone his foster-carer, Lynda, for more information: 02 4987 1213 after 7pm Monday to Wednesday, or any time on other days, or text 0401 264 514. Alternatively, fill out the Adoption Questionnaire on the Dog Rescue Newcastle website and mail it to dogshouse@TPG.com.au.
Hero is in foster care near Raymond Terrace, NSW (only 15 minutes or so from the end of the Sydney to Newcastle M1 Freeway). Hero is not available for adoption interstate.
Hero's adoption fee is $300 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
