About Shelley
Shelley is a sweet little soul who came to us absolutely terrified of life. We don't know what has happened in Shelley's past, all we know is that it was bad and has made Shelley a very scared and depressed little dog. However since coming into care, she is now confident, bouncy and full of life!
When she first came to us, she screamed whenever anyone touched her. We thought she must be in pain, and ended up xraying her whole body trying to find the source of the pain. We found nothing - and this was when we came to realise that Shelley is just so afraid of the world that she was screaming in fear of us, her rescuers.
Now, Shelley is a completely different dog. She loves to play, but is quite bossy so may be best as an only dog. She likes to be inside with her family - she is only interested in being outside if her family are out with her.
Shelley is not too keen on children, however she is not aggressive or snappy towards them, she just avoids them. We would prefer Shelley to go to a home that had older children rather then little ones.
Shelley is being fostered on the westside of Brisbane.

Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Moorooka or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please email chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com for an Adoption Application. From there, we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to talk further about your application and if successful, to arrange a meet and greet.
Prior to adoption, all dogs will need to have a meet and greet with their family, and a house check will be done. All adoptions are subject to a two week trial to ensure your new friend fits in well with your household.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
