About Ellie (On Trial 10/1/15) 2yo kelpie
This beautiful girl is Ellie, and she is a Kelpie around 2 or 3 years old. This has been a big year for Ellie – she found herself homeless, gave birth to 7 beautiful pups, and went into foster-care where she has made herself a lot of new friends and had some fun. Now it’s time to find her forever home. Wow, things are getting better and better!
Ellie is a very active dog who loves to go for a run or to play chasing with her doggy friends, and a game of tug-o-war is one of her favourites as well. Recently two of our wonderful volunteers took her to the beach for a run, and even took her out on the water on their boogie board (see attached photograph). It was all a new experience for Ellie, but she was perfectly calm, took in the view as they floated around the bay, and had a wonderful time. That’s pretty special!
Like most Kelpies Ellie is very intelligent and would never suit a home where she was left bored in the back yard. She needs to be part of the family. She is a beautiful looking dog, with a glossy black coat, and an expressive face.
Ellie will sit on command, but doesn’t appear to have had other training. However, she is quite naturally obedient, and would learn quickly, and often anticipates what you’re wanting her to do. She travels well in the car.
Ellie hasn’t met any children at her foster-carer’s house, so we haven’t seen how she behaves, but we would not expect there to be a problem. She is currently living with a number of other dogs – big and small – and hasn’t had any disagreements with any of them – the more the merrier, she thinks.
Ellie is house-trained and used to being inside at night and spending time indoors with her family. She will make a very devoted and loyal companion for some lucky person.
If you are interested in this dog and have an active lifestyle, you can find out more about her by phoning her foster-carer Lynda, after 7 pm Monday to Wednesday, or at any time on other days on 02 4987 1213, or you can text 0401 264 514. Alternatively, fill in the Adoption Questionnaire on Dog Rescue Newcastle’s web site http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf and email it to dogshouse@tpg.com.au
Ellie is located near Raymond Terrace, \ NSW (Port Stephens, north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
