About Charlie (On Trial 12/10/14) ~ Cavalier
My name is Charlie and I am a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I am 2 and 1/2 years old and taller than usual Cavs but a real lightweight. I am a gorgeous boy, with fine silky hair and I'm a real ladies man. I love running in open areas and playing with my foster family's other dogs. I am not good with cats.
My foster family have grandchildren under 5 years old and whilst I prefer adults I do recognise these young ones as being an important food source, so keep on their good side.
I am a lover not a fighter, not aggressive in any way but have had an incident with another male which didn't work out well. But my foster family have a male Labrador with a similar sunny disposition to me and we get on extremely well.
I am housetrained and will use a doggy door during the night. Occasionally whilst I am out there I will bark at shadows but I am not really a noisy boy. I do love to play and would love to have canine company.
I love just being with you, cuddling up next to you on the lounge, or bed if I am allowed. I must admit to one bad habit, I jump up to greet you and to talk to you, I jump a lot, but being such a lightweight it's no more than a touch, not a push. My foster family have been unable to break me of this habit and I think I have a new name, Charlie Down.
In a nutshell, my ideal forever home would be:
* A Family -that maybe has older children to spoil me rotten.
* Let me inside when you are home.
* Let me have a doggie playmate, preferably female.
* Take me for walks - on lead or off lead in a safely fenced area.
* Most importantly - someone for me to love forever.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
