About Frizzles (very special home needed)
Frizzles is a happy, sweet little dog who has so much love to give. She dances around on her hind legs when she sees a new friend, and loves other dogs. She enjoys playing, being cuddled and just being part of life!
Despite her happy nature, Frizzles life has not been easy. When Frizzles came into care, we noticed that she seemed stiff in the hind region and walked a little funny. We asked our vet to do some xrays to rule out hip dysplasia, but what we discovered what far worse then we ever imagined. Frizzles has at least 2-3 spinal injuries that have been left untreated for years. She has an old injury to her neck, another above her tail and protruding discs in her spine. Due to the neglect she has suffered and the lack of medical care provided to this sweet dog, she has been left with mineralised spinal discs and a fragile, damaged spine.
As our photos reveal, Frizzles also came to us with darkened, infected skin, another sign she has suffered years of neglect. Her skin is inflamed and dull, however with a good diet, antibiotics and regular soothing baths, she is improving with time.
Despite all her pain, Frizzles remains sweet and affectionate. She gets along great with other dogs and loves children.
Frizzles needs a very special home - a home that has no stairs for her to run up and down, to prevent further injury to her spine. She'd love another dog to snuggle with, but one that is gentle enough and won't jump on her back. Friz does love children, but again they must be gentle and caring towards her so they don't hurt her.
Frizzles is being fostered in Lowood, but can be transported in to Brisbane for meet and greets.

Medical notes
We will do everything we can for Frizzles, she has so far had xrays and a CT scan which were sent off to radiology specialists interstate to help diagnose her condition. The vets have advised us that she can be adopted out to the right home - a home that will care for her gently and give her lots of love.
Although she has lots of desire to play and be silly, she mustn't be allowed to be too rough. Frizzles starts acupuncture this week with our vet Esther from ACU-Pet. We will also be looking into chiropractic options for her, and are looking for a home that will commit to doing everything they can to help her live a long and happy life.
Frizzles if undergoing treatment for her skin condition. This will improve in time and soon she will be soft and shiny!
She is vaccinated, microchipped and desexed. She has had full blood tests revealing she is otherwise a healthly middle-aged dog. She has been treated regularly with parasite prevention.
