Minnie E

Minnie is a stunning, sweet natured dog. In her past life she lived on a farm, and apparently used to race the farmer’s tractor! She is good with animals and children, and perhaps gets some of her calmness from growing up in the chaotic environment of a farm.

Nowadays she seems much more suited to a leisurely trot down a fashionable street. She looks so beautiful and stylish. Her coat is soft, short and low-maintenance, although she does shed, it is not excessive. \ Her colouring is unique – she is all white except for two asymmetrical brindle circles, one over her ear and one on her back.

Her bearing and streamlined build are positively regal, it is hard not to be impressed watching her walk. \ The effect is only slightly tarnished by her habit of taking long run-ups before jumping awkwardly on the couch and falling off again. She also struggles with her long legs on polished timber floors, although she has been known to sail gracefully over a high obstacle and land perfectly on the couch in a 10/10 jump.

Minnie wants to be loved and given lots of pats and cuddles. She is respectful towards humans, and can be timid in new situations. Like many Whippets she will tremble when unsure / afraid. She also trembles when she is picked up, but she is learning to relax. It will be rewarding to see her gain in confidence when she is settled with her forever family.

Towards other canines she can be a little aloof and a little pushy, stealing their bed and ignoring their attempts to interact or play. Puppies or small children might annoy her, but older children would be fine. So far she hasn’t shown any interest in playing with toys, although she can gallop joyously when excited. \ She loves walks – her recall hasn’t been tested off-lead but if possible she would prefer to have the chance to run freely sometimes as she just loves to zoom at full speed around the garden.

It seems Minnie was fed from the human table at her previous home. She has a strong determination to investigate the table, and to eat from your plate at dinner time. She will put her paws on the table and attempt to grab a bite. In order to break this bad habit she needs to be fed away from the kitchen / dining area, and never, ever fed at the table. She is smart and she will quickly learn that human food is not for her – she just needs someone who cares enough to be consistent and give her the boundaries she craves.

If you apply for Minnie, please be patient. \ She is being given time to adjust at her foster home and applications will be taken but no detailed response given until she is ready for adoption.
