On Hold
About Louie
A loving pup eager to please. Affectionate, gentle and super loyal.
Other dogs
Yes but can be nervous at first introduction.
Cats
Yes – he has lived with 2 cats since he was 8 weeks old.
Other animals
He met a horse once and was a little nervous but not really interested.
Kids
His carer says he would like kids but may accidentally knock one over with his youthful, puppy exuberance. He is being trained not to jump up when excited. As loud noises frighten him we recommend older kids who don’t scream and yell.
Size
24 kgs
Exercise requirements
Low – Medium. Short strolls and playtime at home. Louie loves a good play. He will play with his human friends or other dogs but is not a high-energy dog.
Escape artist
No. He does not attempt to jump or dig to get out but will require standard fencing.
Tolerance to being alone
As Louie is very affectionate and people orientated be would prefer not to be left alone for long periods of time. When you pop out he will be fine if you leave some toys and a bone to play with.
Toilet trained
Yes.
Likes
Louie will entertain himself with his toys and bones. He loves cuddles and will snuggle up next to you if given a chance. He loves his walks and runs. He is fine when it is time to visit the vet too.
Dislikes
He is scared of loud noises e.g. loud car passing by on a walk. He may also need encouragement to get into the car but once inside he is a perfect passenger. He is not keen on swimming in a pool but is happy to drink from one.
Ideal home
If you work full time Louie would benefit by having another dog as a companion. However, as long as he gets plenty of attention when you are home Louie will be fine if alone. He is very affectionate and loves people.
Generally
Louie will give a little bark to alert you if someone is about but does not constantly bark where he is. He is currently being picked on by another dog and for his own safety needs to be re-homed. He is generally a sweet natured dog with a lovely, gentle temperament.

Adoption details
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
