About Rocket ~ male kelpie puppy (On Trial 30/9/14)
Introducing Puppy Rocket, 4 month old, kelpie x puppy. Rocket is a very handsome boy who loves to snuggle. He loves nothing more than being where you are. He is still a puppy and is very happy to spend all day outside with his sister Stella finding adventures.
Rocket is fantastic with kids, he just loves them so much! As he is still a puppy further training is required to remind Rocket to sit nicely for pats. He isn't nippy. As with all dogs, children should always be supervised when playing together. Rocket is currently in foster care with a 4 year old and a 9 month old baby. He loves playing soccer with the 4 year old!
Rocket knows his name and comes when called, and is very good at sitting when asked. Rocket is very intelligent and would excel at dog obedience as he is very quick to learn and loves to please people. We are working on walking nicely on a lead as Rocket loves to explore to world. Further training will ensure he learns not to pull on the lead. We are working on toilet training. He is too young to have full control as yet so he will sometimes have accidents indoors.
Rocket is a brilliant guard dog, he barks to let us know if there are people or dogs about, then stops quickly when he is asked to by his foster mum. So far he hasn't bothered with the washing on the line.
Rocket has a beautiful shiny coat which has simple maintenance of brushing twice a week and a bath every 3 weeks. Everyone says he's a very handsome boy.
Rocket and is currently in foster care with medium and large dogs and his sister Stella . He would love to find a furever home with another dog for company. But if he had plenty of exercise and was included in family activities, he would be ok as an only dog. Being a working dog breed, Rocket requires plenty of exercise and stimulation to prevent undesirable behaviours.
Rocket is a very snuggly puppy and loves to come inside in the early evening for quiet time cuddles and he will need to continue to be welcome inside in his permanent home.
Rocket's ideal home would be an active family with a yard who are committed to taking for a walk every day. He is suitable for children however supervision is required as he might accidently knock over younger children with all the love he has to share.
Rocket's sister Stella is also available for adoption http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/319473

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
