About Stella ~ Kelpie puppy (On Trial 27/9/14)
Introducing Puppy Stella, 4 month old, tan and brown kelpie X with stunning green eyes! She is healthy, fun loving, fearless and of course fabulous. Stella is still a puppy and is very happy to spend all day outside finding adventures.
Stella is fantastic with kids, she just loves them so much-she just has to jump up and kiss their cheeks! However, she settles quickly after she greets everyone. As she is still a puppy further training is required to remind Stella to sit nicely for pats. As with all dogs, children should always be supervised when playing together. Stella is currently in foster care with a 4 year old and a 9 month old baby, she shows extra care with the baby, quietly shuffling up to lick baby's hand. Stella isn't nippy.
Stella knows her name and comes when called, and is very good at sitting when asked. Stella is very intelligent and would excel at dog obedience as she is very quick to learn and loves to please people. We are working on walking nicely on a lead as Stella loves to explore to world. Further training will ensure she learns not to pull on the lead. We are working on toilet training. She is too young to have full control so she will sometimes have accidents indoors. She does the little cutest wiggle forward whilst sitting and trying to wait for her dinner! It’s like she is trying so hard but can’t help herself and so she shuffles forward whilst still sitting.
Stella is a brilliant guard dog, she barks to let us know if there are people or dogs about, then stops quickly when she is asked to by her foster mum. So far she hasn't bothered with the washing on the line.
Stella has the softest coat which has simple maintenance of brushing twice a week and a bath every 3 weeks.
She and is currently in foster care with medium large dogs. Stella would love to find a furever home with another dog for company. But if she had plenty of exercise and was included in family activities, she would be ok as an only dog. Being a working dog breed, Stella requires plenty of exercise and stimulation to prevent undesirable behaviours.
She loves to come inside in the early evening for quiet time cuddles and she will need to continue to be welcome inside in her permanent home.
Stella's ideal home would be an active family with a yard and are committed to taking for a walk every day. She is suitable for children however supervision is required as she might accidently knock over younger children with all the love she has to share.
Stella's brother Rocket is also available for adoption. http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/319483

(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
