About Meggie
Meggie is an extremely sweet and friendly 3 year old wolfhound cross, although she is nowhere near as big as a wolfhound, weighing in at around 20 kilos- just the right size for snuggling up with you in the evening! Meggie is like a puppy in an adults body- she is energetic and loves to play, and will entertain you with her antics, but is also quick to settle down for a nap, is fully house trained, crate trained, sleeps quietly all night, doesn’t chew or dig and rarely barks. She keeps herself entertained during the day with her furry foster brother & sister, and will always be the first one to greet you when you get back home. Meggie eats her dinner and treats happily near to other dogs and people, and will share all of her toys nicely.
Meggie loves going for walks, however does find being in new situations and meeting new dogs and people a bit scary. Because of this, she will need to go to a home that is committed to continuing her socialisation, and maybe even take her to some training classes. She is very food motivated, and responds extremely well to positive reinforcement. Meggie is generally happy and outgoing at home, but does still have the odd moment of getting scared, therefore would probably be best suited to a home with older kids who are able to recognise when Meggie is getting anxious. She has been left at home on her own, and this hasn’t worried her, however she would prefer to go to a home with another dog who can keep her company and help to reassure her when needed.
Meggie is a very sweet little dog, who doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. If you are willing to put in a little bit of time and effort into helping Meggie overcome her anxiety in new situations, you will find you have the most amazing little dog who will be your best friend for life.
