About Sam(On Trial 25/10/14 ~ German Shorthaired Pointer
Sam is a German Shorthaired Pointer who looks and acts much younger than his 8 years of age. He bounds around the back yard and loves to chase and retrieve thrown toys. He is intelligent, energetic and affectionate. He is always ready for a pat and a cuddle and loves getting pats from the kids next door. German Shorthaired Pointer is a breed we rarely get in rescue so he is very special. He is very handsome with soft, liver coloured coat.
Like many rescue dogs, Sam has had a rough trot. He may cringe or run away from a harsh word or an inadvertently raised arm. Sam was rescued by the rangers. He deserves a much better life in his new home. He has some warts and calluses, but these are just cosmetic and he is of good health.
Sam would be best suited either as a single dog, or with a female dog. He walks well on a lead, and loves a trip in the car. With his energetic spirit, he would make an excellent walking or jogging companion.
Sam is housetrained, comes when called, and responds quickly when asked to “sit”, and sometimes to “lay down”. Sam sleeps either in our laundry, or in a kennel outside. He will bark at scary things in the night, but is otherwise generally very quiet. Sam is a loveable dog and will make a great friend.
For more information or to meet Sam, please contact his foster carer Mike on 0428101893 or email biggles51.mf@gmail.com. Sam is in foster care near Maitland, NSW (west of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Sam's adoption fee is only $300 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
