Yogi *On Trial in His New Home*

*YOGI IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Yogi is a quiet, thoughtful boy who, once he gets to know you, will smooch and happily show you his tricks. He is looking for a caring and compassionate home who will help build his confidence and understands he is a bit shy when meeting new people.

We don’t know much about Yogi’s history (if only he could talk…) as we rescued him from Robinvale pound, but what we do know is that he’s a sweet little fella who once he realises you’ll do him no harm will make some lucky person a very loyal and loving companion. One thing we did manage to find out was his name which has helped settle him into foster care as he knows it well and has good recall. When Yogi first arrived he was so scared it took his carer at least 2 hours of gentle coaxing to be able to get close enough to give him a pat – in saying this he is in no way fear-aggressive, he hasn’t got a nasty bone in his body; he’d prefer to run and hide when frightened. \ He seems to be unsure of males rather than females though he absolutely adores his carers elderly father when he comes to visit. After a couple of weeks in care he’s getting more confident and will accept pats and cuddles from visitors – a few Schmackos won’t go astray either when winning Yogi over, he’ll even roll on his back for a tummy rub and nudge your hand for more; he can be quite the snuggle-bunny if you take your time to get to know him! You can tell he wants to be loved :)

Clever Yogi knows “sit” and as you can see in his video he’ll shake hands; either left or right-pawed whatever suits you best! He’s good on a lead and doesn’t pull. \ He loves his food and isn’t at all fussy and he doesn’t dig or chew. Yogi sleeps inside in the lounge-room in a crate and you don’t hear a peep from him all night. We don’t think Yogi’s spent much time inside as he tended to cower when his foster carer first invited him in but he’s getting the hang of it even if he does tend to pop straight into his crate once he’s in – we guess it makes him feel more safe and secure. We doubt he’s ever had a doggie toy as he’s quite baffled by what to do with them, though he does enjoy a play with his carers’ own dogs so hopefully they’ll teach him the joy of toys too!

Yogi’s fairly low maintenance only needing the occasional bath to keep him smelling fresh. His tail is only ¾ length and we’re not sure what happened to the rest of it, but it still wags just as well as a full-length one! Yogi would be suited to a quieter home with another dog for company if his humans were going to be away at work all day. Secure fences, bones to chew on plus love and reassurance in his forever home will help Yogi to thrive.
