About Zooki (payment in progress 14/11/14)
Hi, my name is Zooki and I am only a young boy, about a year old. They say I am big, brave and beautiful. I am a mastiff cross and I am currently living with my foster Mum and her three small children. I am really good with the children, even small ones, and enjoy spending time with them. I also have a large breed puppy as a playmate. Oh, how much fun we have!! We play and play and play! Sometimes I can get a little too excited so my play sessions have to be supervised. But that’s ok, that means more time with my foster Mum!
If I could use five words to describe myself I would say: affectionate, intelligent, perceptive, sensitive and cautious.
I haven’t had a really good start to life and not much socialization either, so I can be scared of new things including men. I need to be allowed to take my time and have my own space to approach and then I don’t feel as scared anymore.
I am seeking a home with someone who is gentle, kind, loving, compassionate and patient. Because I have some fears, I need someone who will continue with my training (using positive reinforcement methods only). I can take me a little time to warm up to people but I am ok after that. I need good fences.
I am happiest when I am indoors with my people so I need a home that will allow me inside. Of course, like any canine companion, I need mental and physical stimulation otherwise I will find things to do. Having said that though, I can be on my own for sometime as well.
My trainer says I am going to make a fabulous companion for someone, so if you think you might be my ‘people’, please e-mail Eve on emckenzie77@yahoo.com.au for an application form or download a form from http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf and email it to her. I am in foster care in Cessnock, NSW (west of Newcastle).
Zooki's adoption fee is only $400 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
