About Happy
Little Happy is a round, rolly, sweet little dog with lots of personality. Although his name is a joyous one, his recent life has not been. Happy's story is completely heartbreaking. Happy has been very negelected over the last year or two, but not due to any ill-will. His loving owner has developed dementia and has been incapable of caring for himself, let along Happy. Happy has been living on a tiny balcony filled with filth, he has literally been living in his own waste.
In August, Happy's owner was hospitalised and will not be returning home. We were contacted to take Happy but with so many other dogs in care, we were absolutely at our limit. However, the family had made plans to take Happy to a shelter with a high euthanasia rate, so we squeezed him into our care. We could not bear to see a darling innocent dog lose his life in such sad circumstance.
The first 48 hours in our care was devestating. Happy lay in his bed refusing to eat. He had his back turned to us, and didn't make a noise. He was anything but happy. However, his demeanor changed immediately when he went to his foster carers house. He was surrounded by other chihuahuas and had a big backyard to run around in. Within minutes his tail was wagging and he was playing in the yard with the others.
Happy is an incredible dog - he is almost completely silent. He does not whine, he does not bark. He is sweet and docile. This little man is going to be the most wonderful addition to the family that adopt him, he is very special.
