About Darcey
Darcey is a sweet, affectionate, bundle of energy who needs a home to call his own. He loves to run and play and snuggle up next to you for a pat. He has come to us from a local Sydney pound. He loves to snuggle into your shoulder (when sitting on a step) and to sit at your feet and watch the world go by.
Children: Teenagers and up
Cats: Needs a home without them
Pocket Pets: Needs a home without them
Other dogs: he loves other dogs, but doesn't have very good manners. Only dog, unless experienced owner and dogs of similar size. NOT DOG AGGRESSIVE. No problems when walking or being introduced to other dogs, just demands play in the yard.
Exercise level: Medium. A young dog, needs regular stimulation/ exercise.
Walk: Walks well on a halti.
Training: \ He is a clever boy and loves his training sessions. He can sit, stay, shake, lie down, put his front paws on a chair (on command - up- only) and get down. He will play 'guess which hand the treat is in' and gives high 5s (with one paw). He is learning to turn around (still treat led).
Level of experience of owner: We would suggest a confident, fairly experienced dog owner as he is a big boy and still gets excited easily. He will jump onto people when over excited, but responds to down, sit quickly and if given before he gets to you, will not jump.
Escape artist: No
Barker: Will bark at, say the postman, if he can see them.
House Trained: Mostly an outside dog, has not had any accidents in the house.
Play: he loves to play by himself with toys - stuffed toys, balls, tug of war, etc. He will drop a ball down the stairs (outside) and bounce down the stairs to catch it. Will throw a stuffed toy around himself and catch it. He will play with us, but doesn't quite understand fetch. Loves tug of war with people.
If you are looking for a snuggly playful giant and can continue with his training, please consider Darcey.
