About Pepper (On Trial 15/9/14)
This is Pepper, a gorgeous 4.5 months old Labrador/Mastiff, a real head turner. She has beautiful expressive eyes that you can’t help but notice whenever you look at her lovely face.
Her coat is totally black and feels just like velvet. She is still very young and needs to grow into her skin; at a glance it looks like she is wearing a body suit a couple of sizes too big.
Pepper is light on her feet when she walks that you would swear she was wearing slippers.
She is already quite large and still has some growing to do as she is only still very young, her size can make you forget she is still only a puppy, with puppy like behaviours. Her mannerisms are a bit like a cross between Goofy and a boofhead really, but she’s just a delight!
Pepper has a very loyal and loving nature and she is going to be a fabulous companion for some lucky person or family. She is already used to travelling in the car and definitely enjoys that; toilet training and learning to sit has begun but currently works in progress.
Pepper is presently housed with a number of other dogs of all sizes, and gets on well with everyone. She still wants to play and have fun. She is very people-orientated too, so she wants to follow you everywhere you go, and may climb a fence to catch up with you.
A prospective owner would be best to have colorbond or timber fences that don’t provide her with a ladder. She is not a dog that wants to escape and go wandering, she only wants to follow you if she sees you going elsewhere on the property, so with a bit of maturity and perhaps some training the “I’m coming with you” idea will likely leave her head. She’s a very cuddly girl, and still thinks she can be a lap dog, but once she’s a bit older and larger she’ll realise that knees just aren’t big enough. Guess it’ll have to be the couch!
If you’d like to find out more about Pepper please contact her foster-carer Lynda, 4987 1213 after 7pm Monday to Wednesday, or any time other days, or text 0401 264 514.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
