About Bear
Meet the big and beautiful Bear!
Bear is the most beautiful gentle giant around and he is looking for a loving home where he will be apart of the family.
Bear was surrendered to SCAR after his previous owner became unwell and could no longer care for him. It was a very regretful surrender and Bear was always treated well and really loved.
He is extremely intelligent and if allowed to get away with something once he will run a mile with it! Bear weighs in at around 45 - 50kg which is average for this breed. He loves to play catch with a big ball or kong toy, and sticks (which he will chew up and look at you for another). \
Bear is great with every friendly dog he meets, big and small. He is also wonderful with children however due to his size he can be a little too strong for very young kids. Bear is NOT a fan of cats or pocket pets so best rehomed without smaller animals.
He loves a walk and does better with a harness rather than collar, he is still strong though as he is a big boy so some large breed experience would be great for his new owners to have. He will stop and sit when told before crossing roads. He has no off lead training but is great at the park on lead and when meeting new dogs and people.
Bear LOVES going in the cars as he knows that normally means an adventure! He normally rests his head on the back seat looking out the rear window :)
Bear has had some training and will sit, lie down, come when called, shake hands, will put his paws up to have them wiped when wet or muddy. He learns new tricks very quickly. He loves to play and will do "turbo's" around the yard :) He loves to prance around like a giant puppy which is extremely funny to watch.
Bear has a big bark with a kind of yodel at times and has proven to be a great guard dog. But, if anyone said his name he would become their best friend. He will try to jump up on new people if they are not firm with him. He knows he is not allowed to jump but will give it a try on unsuspecting new people to give them kisses!
He loves a belly scratch, ear rub or hug and has rather ticklish feet..!
He isn't a fan of bath time and normally needs to be tied to the tub, however once in, he tends to resign himself to the fact and enjoys it. He is normally washed at the local hydrobath rather than try doing him at home due to his size which works well.
Bear prefers to stay indoors and snooze on his bed until his owners get home and is completely toilet trained indoors (his breed is known to be very relaxed and sedate). He is a little anxious when left outdoors on his own but if he has access to the house he relaxes a lot!
We want Bear to go to a loving home where he will be treated like a part of the family, allowed to be indoors and outdoors and one where he can sleep indoors. He is such a lovely dog with a beautiful nature and the first person to meet him will surely fall head over paws for this gentle giant!
Bear comes desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
Medical notes
Bear has a sensitive tummy and skin so requires a diet without any red meat or excess additives and preservative. He is currently eating Black Hawk dry food (Fish and Potato) and has been ok with chicken or fish based dry foods. He is also given an egg twice a week on his dry food to keep his coat nice and shiny. He suffers with itchy, dry skin so keeping him on a good diet and regular bathing in sensitive shampoo helps a lot with keeping his sensitive skin settled. He also has some omega 3 oil added to his food which also keeps his skin allergies to a minimum.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
