About Sorcha
Sorcha (Sor-ka) is a purebred Scottish Deerhound and is one of the kindest souls I've ever met in a dog.
If you want a mature giant breed dog (she weighs about 43kg and is very tall for a lady), that wants nothing more than breakfast, a 30-45 minute walk each day (she walks beautifully on a halti) then to spend the rest of the day sleeping on your couch before dinner and bed, Sorcha could be your girl!
Sorcha is both cat/dog friendly and tolerates children, but would really benefit from a quiet home where she is the center of the world so she can catch up on the love she's missed out on - she does however love playing with other big dogs at the dog park, and would love regular play dates with other friendly dogs.
Sorcha even sits for her dinner, which consists of 2.5 cups of premium dry and half a tub of homemade wet in the AM and again in the PM.
When you're scratching her while she's lying down, she'll put one big paw on you, as if saying "Please, never stop!"
Her beautiful brown eyes are so expressive and gentle - she is kind, sensitive and an all over smooch!
Now, I can gush on forever - but I'll be honest about her cons. Boredom and stress will lead to paw licking. This is a habit we are working on breaking, but it is probably deeply infused in her brain as she came into care with big wounds from her obsessive licking, as a result of a lack of attention and lack of mental/physical stimulation in her previous life. Other than that, she has proven to be a beautifully behaved girl.
Although she won't need an especially large yard if she is walked daily, good fences are a must. Also, as much as she is toilet trained, her new human must learn to read her signs - she will ask to be let out via pacing, restlessness and heading to the back door!
Regarding kids - Sorcha is ok with respectful kids, having \ been exposed to them on occasion while in care. She will happily accept their love and pats but she is a big and sometimes clumsy girl and will likely knock smaller children over without realising her strength.
Ideally, Sorcha is best suited to an adult only, predominately indoor only home where she will be an adored and cherished member of the family.
Sorcha is in care in The Patch
Medical notes
Sorcha goes to her new home desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and flea and worm treated.
