About Mary Robin (On Trial 7/9/14)
Mary Robin is an oh-so-cute, 21 month old, purebred, Fox Terrier with pedigree papers. If you love scruffy, happy little dogs then you should meet Mary. She is not a barker, only barking to let you know when someone is at the door. She has a funny little night time routine. Every night when I put her in the laundry with the other dogs to go to bed, Mary goes outside and pushes her nose through the doggie door to accept her treat from me. She certainly has her own unique personality!
Mary Robin's favourite activities are playing with doggie friends, playing with a ball and soft toys, chew toys, tug-of-war, zoomies around the house, chasing or being chased, and of course going for walks. She will even toss a ball around and play by herself. Such a fun loving little munchkin.
Mary gets along very well with other dogs. It's funny to watch her nudge the other dogs to get them to play with her. She hasn't met any cats since she's been with us so we don't know how she'd react to them. We don't have young children. I think she'd be fine with children over about 9 years old and she may jump up on little ones.
Mary doesn't appear to have had much training before she was rescued by Dog Rescue Newcastle. So we have started basic training and taught her to sit when asked and to come when called. She will need further training by her adoptive family. Fox Terriers are very clever and curious dogs and respond very well to training. She would enjoy going to training classes. The Fox Terrier is not to be confused with the more common Miniature Fox Terrier. Fox Terriers are small dogs but are taller than a Mini Foxy.
Mary is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. She currently sleeps in the laundry with 4 other small dogs and uses a doggie door to go out when needed. We are housetraining her and she is doing well but still has the occasional accident. She is not a fussy eater. She likes wet and dry dog food and enjoys chicken wings and doggie treats.
Mary Robin would not be suited to a home where she is left home alone all day as she is young and would get bored. She would be better suited to a home with someone who only works part time or not at all. She needs another playful dog as a companion particularly if left at home alone during day. Like any small dog Mary needs secure fences without gaps underneath.
For more information or to meet Mary Robin, please contact her foster carer Louise on 02-4975-5955 or 0411 956 694 or email l.scott2 @ bigpond.com. Mary is in foster care near Rathmines, NSW 2283 (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Mary's adoption fee is only $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, lifetime registration and pedigree papers.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
