About Porkchop
Puppies don't come much more deliciously adorable than little PORKCHOP!
With stunningly handsome good looks, Porky has beautiful bright white and shiny deep black half/half markings with a unique love heart-shaped brown patch on his back. Apart from his obvious gorgeousness, he is a gentle, kind, playful and very cuddly puppy.
Porkchop is moderately food motivated (not food obsessed) and in just one week he has learnt 'sit', 'stay', 'drop', and 'come here', and is progressing well with his toilet training. We can see already that Porky is very intelligent and responds well to gentle commands and is learning to walk well on leash.
He is highly alert and often joins in with barking when someone new approaches the front door or when he hears the neighbourhood dogs bark.
Porkchop has had a clean bill of health from our vet, and the only thing to note (aside from fair complexion) is that he snores and may possibly develop a slight soft palate problem which surgery can correct.
He will be desexed by the end of August, after which he will be ready to go to his forever home.
MY IDEAL HOME:
I don't settle well when left completely on my own, I will follow you from room to room and I get nervous having doors closed with me on the opposite side. My forever family will need to provide companionship around the clock - whether it be with a stay-at-home human or with a doggy sibling (though having both would be absolutely perfect!). My foster mum says I seem much more at ease having bonded with my Staffy foster brother... he's certainly nice to sleep squished up against in the one bed, it makes me feel warm and safe. :)
The pink pigment on my nose and around my ears means that I will need to be mostly an inside dog (with access to a fenced garden throughout the day) as well as needing sunscreen applied when spending long periods in the sun.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I am going to be a medium-to-large dog with a medium energy level, so a backyard, a walk every day and decent amounts of playtime with my family would suit me to a tee.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN:
So far I have met and received big cuddles from the neighbourhood kids, which has been lovely. My foster mum is very proud of how friendly and gentle I have been each time.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS:
I have already met lots of different dogs of all sizes and breeds, and currently I live with two elderly small breed female dogs and a one-year-old male Staffy. I am very playful and love to play rumbles with my foster brother, but I am much gentler and low-key around my older foster sisters.
I have previously lived with a cat (for about a week) and although I was keen to make friends, she wasn't really so into the idea!
Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
