About Amira (On Trial 9/9/14)
Amira is a very sweet, affectionate and pretty little girl - Maltese x terrier, 2 to 3 years old. She is good with children and people. She loves attention, will roll over for rubs and will give kisses. She is completely adorable and loves company and cuddles. She gets along well with the other small dog that she is living with. She is happy to be in the yard for a bit of an inspection and then to lie in the sun on the dog trampoline bed.
Amira is house trained and will use a doggy door. She is an indoor dog. She likes to be inside when people are home and sleeps in the house during the night. She gets the message when you say “no” and responds very well to training. She is a good in the car, lying down and not fussing, jumping in and out when invited. Of course, she is in doggy restraints when the car is moving. She is not a fussy eater.
She loves bath time and being groomed, even wagging her tail and smiling when I'm bathing and grooming her. I think she just likes to be touched and loved. She has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
She likes to go for walks, particularly on the beach. She isn't a problem barker. She only barks at other dogs when she meets them or when someone knocks on the door. \
Amira could have another small doggy in her forever home, or would be happy to be the only one to get all the attention. Amira's lucky forever family will welcome a responsive little dog with a very loving nature.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
