About Missy (adopted 21/10/14) Border Collie x Kelpie
Are you looking for a walking/running partner? Are you trying to loose weight? Or are you a sporty person looking for a fellow athlete? Then Missy the beautiful border collie x kelpie is just the tomboy you've been looking for!!
She's quite small (around knee height), 18mths old and is a strikingly beautiful girl who is super intelligent, energetic, very agile and a fast learner. If you've ever been intrigued by Dog Agility Sports then Missy would be the perfect dog to train for this kind of sporting arena; challenging the physical and mental abilities of both dog and owner.
She is a very excitable girl, full of personality, house trained and very affectionate. She just loves to give everyone she meets a big smooch.
She has learnt her basic commands very quickly; sit, drop and she has a strong recall. I am currently working on stay and fetch. She walks very well on her lead with a harness on and only pulls now and then if there's something she wants to look at, however she is very quick to respond when corrected.
Missy currently interacts with her foster brother and sister, a Maltese & Chihuahua, very well but she prefers to eat alone and enjoys a range of food and bones. She is also very good with our alpacas and sheep and loves stealing their hay and pellets when she thinks they’re not looking!
Missy is not a chewer or a digger but she makes a great game of running off with shoes. She doesn't chew them, just loves running off with them, she never takes them far though and it creates a lot of laughter in our household!
Missy's sociable and affectionate nature means she can be quite boisterous and energetic for a short time when visitors first arrive but once she has met everybody and the thrill of the new arrival is over she is fine. Further training would reduce this.
She absolutely loves kids but she would be best suited to much older children as she gets so excited to have someone to play with that she can accidentally knock them over. She sometimes jumps up to greet adults but continuing her training will stop this. Her favourite game is to play hide and seek with my son!
True to her breed she is very loyal, eager to please and is definitely a tomboy and definitely a sporty dog! She has enjoyed stretching her legs around our 20 acre property and would be best suited to someone with some space to run or someone with a very active lifestyle. It would be a shame to see her intelligence and athletic nature go to waste. By continuing her basic training you'll have a beautiful buddy forever!
My foster carer is Katie and you can contact her by emailing katiemaree21@hotmail.com am currently in care in the Vacy (25 min from Maitland).

(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
