About Scoota (On Trial 17/8/14)
They say good things come in small packages and that’s certainly true about Scoota – he’s a little ball of happiness tied up with a ray of sunshine! Scoota is a small Maltese around 3 years old. To him the world is a wonderful place where everything is positive, everyone is loveable, and only good things are around the corner. He is a very placid little guy who gets on well with other dogs and is happy to let them do their own thing without interfering. He is not at all timid, but definitely a pacifist. Scoota just wants to be loved, and to be a big part of his family’s life- is all that is important to him.
Scoota has a cute little sense of humour and sometimes likes to trick you in the doorway; just as you think he’s in, he’ll run off in the opposite direction, looking back at you with a cheeky grin, hoping you’ll chase him. But if you’re not in the mood he’s soon back at your feet, not willing to miss a moment of your time and attention.
Being a Maltese, Scoota has a non-shedding coat that needs regular brushing and bathing, and in particular it needs to be clipped every 6 to 8 weeks, otherwise it becomes very long and matted. His new adoptive family will therefore need to understand this and be happy to comply, either clipping him at home or being able to afford to take him regularly to a groomer. Scoota loves to go for rides in the car, and travels well, so he sees his hairdressing appointments as a treat.
Scoota would be a great dog with children, or with elderly people, as his wonderful nature comes with a free pass into everyone’s heart. He needs to be an inside dog, with ready access to his owner’s knee, or a chair, and hopefully their bed. His ideal home would be one where there is someone who doesn't work full time so he doesn't have to spend long hours at home 5 days a week. He’s a precious little guy, and when he arrives at his new home he will fit right in and start spreading the love!
If you would like to find out more about Scoota please phone his foster carer Lynda on 02 4987 1213 after 7pm Monday to Wednesday, or any time other days, or text 0401 264 514 any time. Scoota is located in the Raymond Terrace NSW area (Port Stephens, 20 minutes north of Newcastle).
Scoota's adoption fee is only $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
