About Pretty Peppa (On Trial 12/8/14)
Peppa is a tiny 1 year old (approximately), female, Silky Terrier. At an itsy bitsy 3.5kg she was found abandoned and extremely underweight and covered in grass ticks. Even so, after a good food and some tender loving care she soon settled in bringing smiles to everyone’s faces with her snuggles and playful puppy nature. This little girl will melt your heart from the minute you meet her and needs somebody who will show her the love and compassion she deserves.
You will not meet a better family dog than Peppa and there's never a frowning face when she's around. She is more than content snuggling her little head in to your arm on the lounge or playing with you. She has been around people of all ages including kids and we couldn’t have asked for a better response- no nervous responses to being picked up or loud noises around the house. She LOVES spending time with the family and is best suited to a home where she will be able to spend a lot of time with people as this is where she is the most content.
Peppa gets a bit nervous when meeting other dogs and might growl a little bit at first but she soon warms up to them and absolutely loves spending her time snuggling and playing with them. Peppa loves showing them who's boss during playtime, despite her size, which makes us giggle. She is fine with cats.
Peppa is still a puppy and will need some help adjusting if you plan to have her sleep in another room as she gets a lonely by herself at night. But with training and patience she could adjust. She must be an inside dog though, and sleep inside, as she wouldn't like being left outside away from everybody.
Peppa gets a bit naughty when the other dogs try and eat with her but she is learning to share. She is good walking on the lead. She does not dig or puppy nip at all. Apart from the odd accident she is going very well with her toilet training and will often wake you up in the middle of the night to let you know she needs to go outside.
She absolutely LOVES being brushed, which she would need for her long hair so she doesn’t get knotted as well as a bath and an ear clean every now and again. She has had her nails clipped with no issues at all.
Peppa doesn’t cause any problems around the house due to lack of training, however, she would very much benefit from some one on one time to teach her the basics like sit and stay for example. \ She is extremely eager to learn and will relish any chance to spend time with you as she is constantly seeking responses of praise and encouragement. This time would be very much enjoyed by everyone involved.
Peppa would be best suited to a home where she will be an inside dog that can spend a lot of time with people to keep her company. She would make the perfect pet for any family or home that is going to spend the time with her and give her the love and attention that she deserves. Beautiful and loving Peppa would be the ideal companion for anyone who would be willing to return the favour for her which she sadly, has never seemed to have experienced before.

(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
