About Douglas *On Trial in His New Home*
*DOUGGIE IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Wriggly-worm Douglas (or Douggie as his foster carers call him) can’t get close enough to those he loves. This sweet young boy loves to cuddle, but simply sitting on your lap isn’t close enough for him. He wriggles and nuzzles until he feels he is as close to you as he can possibly be, then settles in for a cuddle marathon. This is a wonderful far cry from the nervous boy who entered foster care, after being rescued from our local pound, and would cower when his carers tried to pat or cuddle him.
Douggie is an almost 8 month old Maltese x Shihtzu. When he came into care, his fur was long, matted and filled with grass seeds (he had to have quite the close shave to remove the smelly mess), but after some pampering, he is now feeling spunky, fresh and ready for his forever home. While his fur is still so short, he is enjoying wearing a nice warm jumper during these winter months; it’s also a great excuse to snuggle-up and keep warm.
Clever Douggie came into care knowing basic training. He is housetrained and happily uses a doggy door, can sit (especially loves doing this for food!), will hop off the couch when asked and walks well on a lead. He gets along really well with his foster carers’ 2 Maltese cross dogs, as well as their other foster dog – a young Miniature Fox Terrier cross. In fact, Douggie and the other foster dog adore each other so much they’ve developed a ‘dogmance’! When they’re not playing games with each other, they are snuggled on the couch together with or without their foster carers – just another member of Douggie’s love and cuddle circle!

Adorable Douggie currently sleeps in his bed on the floor in his foster carers’ bedroom and spends his days outside with the other dogs while they’re at work. He would suit an inside/outside lifestyle where he can spend as much time as possible with his new owners. When left outside, he will need lots of toys and bones to keep him company – as a puppy he tends to be quite inquisitive still and enjoys digging the occasional shallow hole here and there. He will make a loving and loyal lifelong family member and would appreciate another furry friend to keep him company.

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
